Team Player Making Field Goals

Please say “hello” to Adrian! Adrian has been with Sound Community Services for over 8 years and is one of our Service Coordinators in our Supportive Housing. Supportive Housing provides intense case management services to individuals with a substance abuse and/or mental health diagnosis that have a history and/or currently experiencing homelessness.

In 2013, Gino, our CEO, interviewed Adrian for his current position.  Adrian, a U.S. Army Reserves Veteran, recalls a part of his interview with Gino, where Gino was honest and open with Adrian about where the agency once was, where it was going and where he envisioned the housing program going. Adrian states, “He then asked me if I was still interested in working for this agency?  Till this day I will never forget my answer, “I just want the opportunity to show you, and this agency, what I am capable of, and what an asset I can be to the team”.  Almost 8 1/2 years later, I’m still here.  Even now, I still try to live by that value. To do the best I can; with the gift that I was given, to help others to the best of my ability!”

During Adrian’s time at Sound, he’s been a two-time Donna Millette- Fridge Award nominee, a nomination made by his coworkers. In 2014, he was also recognized for his outstanding accomplishments and talents he has brought to our community with our 1st ever Supportive Housing Quality Assurance Review Award.

An interesting fact about Adrian, he once played semiprofessional football for six years for the Connecticut Thunder, in which he was a defensive captain for three years and an all-star as well. In Adrian’s spare time, he enjoys modeling for Coastal Crab Co., a local clothing, and accessories store in Niantic. Along with his wife, he also enjoys coaching his two daughters Nutmeg Youth Triathlon Team as well as he enjoys cooking and traveling.

As our new Core Values were rolled out last month, Adrian quotes Henry Ford, “Coming together is the beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”

Thank you, Adrian, and to our Service Coordinators in Supportive Housing for all you do every day!
