Please say “hello” to Erica. Erica has been with Sound Community Services for over thirteen years and is one of our Support Workers in our Oasis Center. Oasis is one of our Social Rehab programs that offers a variety of educational and social skills building opportunities developed and implemented through a partnership with our persons served.
Erica, who was nominated by our Oasis Program Coordinator, Phil, for an Employee Spotlight has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a graduate degree in counseling with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. Erica has been praised for her virtual groups she formed during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to host today. Erica states, “Some of our persons served have paused on coming to Oasis because of COVID or just feel comfortable joining in a virtual group designed for recovery are participating.” A few subjects Erica has focused on in her virtual groups are: Ending the Stigma of Mental Illness, Positivity, Self Esteem Connectedness, (WRAP) Wellness Recovery Action Plan and Challenges Triggers and Tools.
Erica states, “There are two things I believe that make me a good group leader: positivity and unconditional positive regard.” If you see Erica in the hallways of Sound Community Services, you are always greeted with a warm smile.
