Please say hello to Macloud. Macloud is a young adult who is a resident in one of our Residential Programs at Sound Community Services and actively engaging in our AXS Center activities during the week. A part of Sound for two years, Macloud navigated a challenging period in 2022, with the support of Sound propelling them towards a path of success.
Macloud plays a pivotal role as a mentor to their peers and holds the esteemed position of President for the 2024 Youth Advisory Board Council, a part of the AXS Leadership Board that convenes monthly to plan activities, propose workshops, and introduce fresh ideas for the AXS Center. Macloud states, “AXS has helped me a lot, by giving me different supports, like letting me interact with peers.” Prior to coming to Sound, Macloud had limited interaction with peers. Outside of work hours, they often found themselves secluded in their apartment, lacking opportunities for social engagement. Macloud consistently provides valuable support to their peers. They are respected, trusted, contribute significantly, and receive praise. Arielle, Rehabilitation Specialist in our AXS Center states, “When people are having a difficult day, no matter what, Macloud is always there for them. It is an exceptional quality. That is why they are succeeding in life, and that is great.” Today, you can find Macloud playing a friendly game of Dungeon & Dragons in their spare time with fellow friends.
With aspirations to obtain a driver’s license soon, Macloud presently relies on walking as their primary mode of transportation, recognizing the therapeutic benefits of nature walks for mental well-being. Known for their distinctive sense of style, ranging from elegant suits to unique fashion choices, Macloud exudes a confidence and individuality that captivates admiration.
Displaying a generous and helpful nature, Macloud works part-time in a men’s clothing department, assisting customers in selecting the perfect attire for various occasions. Their aspirations include giving back and serving their country. Recently securing a full-time government/contractor position while retaining their part-time job reflects Macloud’s commitment to personal growth and financial stability, aligning with their overarching goal of achieving a more secure and prosperous future.
