Please say “hello” to Violeta! Violeta has been with Sound Community Services for a year and eight months and is one of our Client Access Representatives (CAR). Violeta states, “The CAR is the first point of contact for clients seeking services and referral sources in our community. We facilitate the intake process and work with the Clinic team to increase client engagement. It may seem easy to pick up the phone and say that you’re seeking services, but it’s actually a very difficult decision for many. There are two quotes that always stick with me every day, and you may all know them as well. One is “Don’t judge a man until you walk a mile in his shoes,” and the other is “you may know my name, and you may know my story, but you don’t know what I’ve been through.” It takes courage, and I make sure I acknowledge that.”
Violeta was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Violeta states, “I am proud of where my roots started. I also saw first-hand the damaging effects of a community, family, and friends affected by drugs, gangs, addiction, and behavioral issues all around me every day. It’s an issue that always hits home, and tugs at my heart.”
Lastly, Violeta states, “I love working at Sound, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to work here. I get to do one of the things I love which is sharing my compassion and empathy for others. I get to have that human connection, to be a listening ear, and a reassuring voice for those in the community seeking a positive change in their lives. Working here I am making a difference, I am learning, and I see the importance of having behavioral health services in our community and the lack thereof. Sound Community Services is important to the community, and the people we serve are a priority to Sound. As for me, I am proud to be that voice in the other side providing the information and confidence our clients need to get started for services.”
Thank you, Violeta, and to our Client Access Representative staff for all you do every day!
